I was named by a Hillbilly Band.

Today while driving around, I was browsing through the channels on the radio and stumbled across something.  It made me tear up.  It made me miss my grandparents and my childhood.  It made me want to marry a cowboy.  What was it you ask?  Let me give you a little background first.

My name is Amanda.

Origin: Latin.
Meaning: Worthy of Love.
Cute right?
Famous peeps named Amanda: Amanda Bynes, Amanda Peet, Amanda Seyfreid, Mandy Moore.
Growing up, I loved that I had my own show on Nickelodeon--aka "the Amanda Show".
Legit.

Was I named though because of my Latin heritage?  Haha, No.  Did my parents say when I was born "She's so worthy of love, we should name her accordingly" ?  Nope.  Named after a celebrity?  Nope-edy, Nope-edy, Nooo.

My parents relied on a dear musician by the name of Don Williams when it came to naming me.  I'm willing to bet you've never heard of him.  He's a country singer.  Now for those of you who know my dad, you know this is no stretch in the slightest to for him to name his first-born after a country song.  My mom of course is a cross between a hippie and punk rocker.  She wanted to name me Roxanne after the Police song.  So hardcore.

She loves my dad though, and trusted his judgement to name me after this twaaangy country ballad.  Wanna hear it?

K, I'll be totally honest--I used to be embarrassed for people to hear this song and know I was named after it.  I might pride myself on my taste in music a little bit. I was nervous if you heard this, you might lose faith in the integrity my musical taste.

HERE IS THE DEAL THOUGH; I loooove this song.  My Grandma's cried when she's listened to this with me before, and it makes me think of my dad, and my mom and how she loves my dad.  I love it.  And for shreal it makes me want to abandon this great city of Austin and move to the country and find and marry a good old country boy.  Thank you dad for your good taste.  I love my name.

Grateful for:
Country music!!
