Blogs are NOT discriminatory.

So I’ll be honest.  I was initially really quite opposed to this blog thing.  I have another confession though: I used to be very opposed to the facebook too.  But, here we are… you’re most likely reading this blog because I posted the link to it on my facebook.  That’s fine.  I’m over it.

Let’s talk about this though; my initial introduction to blogs made me think that they were only for married people.  Really, I thought that!  Either for people with cute little husbands, or kids whose precious-ness demanded that they be blogged about.  I wondered if marriage was a prerequisite for blogging.  I was truthfully opposed to blogging myself simply because I was not a part of this elite club.  Don’t get me wrong my adorable married friends—I am obsessed with your blogs.  That’s definitely the truth.  I just didn’t know if I could join along in the blogging fun.

One day though, I stumbled upon… wait for it… an illustrator’s blog.  A children’s book illustrator blog.  No waaay.  The posts were about projects, inspirations, even colors, and… CRAYONS.  Be still my heart.  Oh it was a thing of beauty.  Slowly, slowly I began to realize that blogs were for ALL sorts of things.  People blog about art and music and food and traveling… and after “Julie and Julia” came out I was baffled at why it had taken me so long to realize how expansive the world of bloggers really is.

So after a long bout of deliberation, I decided that yes, I was allowed to and somewhat encouraged to join the rank of bloggers.  It took me a while to talk myself into it, but here’s the deal—I am passionate and have things I want to tell you about.  And that’s why I’m here.  I’m a big fan of being creative and admiring beautiful things and I’m gonna to blog about it dang it!!  So to quote Kathleen Kelly in You’ve Got Mail, it may be nothing- “just meaningless bouquets of sharpened pencils” that I blog about, but I have been blessed with a lot to inspire and lift me up and I want to share it with you!!

  1. Oh my gosh. Am I your first comment? I found you by accident! I was just clicking away and found your profile and thought it was adorable. . .

I just started blogging recently too. It took ME forever because I thought the only people who blogged were hipsters and trendsetters (which I am not) or the politically involved (of which I am definitely not). I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong. So good luck with your blog, I am really having a fun time with mine. I'm going to follow you!
