And behold, I prepare you against these things; for ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come. Therefore what will ye that I should prepare for you that ye may have light when you are swallowed up in the depths of the sea ?
Ether 2:25, Book of Mormon
This is one of my very favorite sections of the Book of Mormon. When I read it, I always feel like the Brother of Jared, on the banks of the seashore of the great deep; on the precipice of the big events of my life. I feel like the Lord has helped me, just like He helped the Brother of Jared, to build "barges" that will give me the means to cross the "sea", and has helped me to be prepared in ways I couldn't have had anticipated were necessary. But there are still elements of the necessities required to accomplish those tasks that lie ahead, that God entrusts to me, and gives me the agency to figure out in my own style. And then He allows me to take them to Him so that they might be prepared with Him.
I'm grateful for the light that comes from the gospel, that illuminates my life--always.
Also, I'm grateful for the world's cutest students who bring me McFlurries, and draw pictures of me watching fireworks with them.
